March 12th George
E. O'Rourke Memorial
Gurge Wins O'Rourke Memorial
Ken Gurge's wish to win the George E. O'Rourke Memorial tournament came true Wednesday night. He won the tournament with a final-round draw against Parker Montgomery. It was only fitting that Ken win the event, since he was the last person to play George on Feb. 21, 2007. George died five days later - Feb. 26, 2007 - in Emerson Hospital in Concord. It was a shock to all of us, as George had been one of the most loyal members the club ever had. Ever since he joined the club on April 23, 2003, George was a staunch member of the club. We all miss him very much.
- George Mirijanian
Congratulations also to Parker Montgomery of Keene, NH for coming in 2nd and to George Mirijanian (who graciously sat out the last round to let everyone play) and Eric Jakobowicz of Fitchburg, and Craig Andries and Larry Gladding of Leominster for tying for 3rd.
George Mirijanian, Craig Andries, Joe Bennett and Richard Bennett did not play the round.
